My nail polish collection is extensive, though it is by far smaller than the collections of some of the ladies I know from online nail polish groups (yes, we exist, and yes, we are a little crazy when it comes to polish!). It seems like I can go a couple of weeks without getting a new polish, but then I make up for that by buying a ton of them all at once, and getting in trouble for it when I do! Men don't really get it, do they? I also have been a Julep Maven for two years now, getting a box of new polish and beauty products each month. I don't think there has been a single collection that I haven't loved, and I have only ever skipped one month, and it was not because I didn't want it but for personal reasons having to do with my then 5 month old son that I will likely get into another time. There is a lot of retail therapy going on around here, and most of it revolves around him and his health!
I also have a love for perfume! My collection is one of my favorite things. On especially bad days I often find myself looking at the beautiful bottles and smelling some of my favorites. There is so much ugly in the world, but it is comforting to find beauty in the little things.
Another thing I will likely mention often is coffee. My lifeblood. I, like many others afflicted with my addiction, can not get through a day without pumping it through my veins. Many days I think I would mainline it if I could! I spend most of the week with the entire household resting solely on my shoulders, from around 5 am until 11 pm. It is exhausting and it is frustrating and lonely at times- coffee gets me through the exhaustion at least ;) And so we have come to the inspiration for the title of this blog; Perked and Polished! Even if the rest of me is less than polished most days (as in, dirty hair piled on top of my head in a messy bun, shuffling back and forth from the Keurig in my doctor who robe and slippers) at least my nails look good!

| One of my favorite mugs, and Illamasqua Trilliant from their shattered stars collection on my nails, using three coats of Butter London's PD quick fast drying top coat to give it some serious shine. |
I was checking out some of Butter London's new Brick Lane Collection, and noticed that one of the shades (Dubs) looks very similar, and is described as a 3D textured glitter. I need to get my hands on it and do a side by side comparison! Of course the rest of the collection is gorgeous as well, so I'll be trying to get my hands on those as well.
My toddler is quietly playing in his room for now, and only being a little bit naughty, so I think I should probably take this opportunity to clean. My nails are polished, my coffee is brewed; looks like I'll be surviving another day in this circus!
